Citizens ask the City Council of Yecla that the minimum distance of the Game Rooms with respect to the teaching centers is at least 500 meters (04/09/2019)

In the motion presented at the Ordinary Plenary of September, the Municipal Citizens Group, requests that the distance that the Games, Gambling, Recreational, Bingos and Casinos Halls must be regulated be regulated.

Through URBANISTISC standards.

The councilors of the Municipal Group Citizens, have become aware of the enormous social alarm that has raised the eminent opening of two Games rooms, close to schools in our City.

It is logical that their location is not the result of chance, since one of the most susceptible and vulnerable populations to fall into the grip of the game and addiction to it, is the adolescent.

The statistics include an increasing number of young people who bet and play in person in this type of establishments.

The Betting Regulations of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, do not establish any regulations about the minimum distance that these SALONS have to maintain with respect to the Teaching Centers.

But the Municipal Administration can establish this minimum distance through Complementary Norms to Municipal Urban Planning.

As established in the Law of territorial and urban planning of the Region of Murcia.

Law 13/2015 of March 30.

That allows local administrations to regulate through Complementary Standards, aspects not provided for in the PGOU, or underdeveloped.

According to Antonio Puche spokesman of the Municipal Citizens Group: "That is why we understand that YES a limitation can be established in the minimum distance that this type of classrooms have to maintain, with respect to the teaching centers, as has been done in other municipalities of our Region, such as Torre Pacheco, through Complementary norms, although it is true that it is about putting limitations to protect young people and adolescents, but not restricting that these Salons are installed in other Zones, since that would prevail. "

From the Yecla Citizens Municipal Group, they affirm that, although they would have liked this motion to go forward unanimously, they are satisfied that at least it has been left on the table with the votes in favor of PP and Cs, to be studied and assess the viability Of the same.

In any case, from Cs, a consultation has been made to the General Directorate of Public Administrations, to resolve doubts in this regard.
