The Diocese hosts for two days the reliquary of Saint Bernadette who pilgrims in Spain (14/10/2019)

Hospitals of all ages and from all corners of the Diocese of Cartagena participated on Friday in the celebrations on the occasion of the visit of the reliquary of St. Bernadette.

Coming from Granada, the reliquary that is traveling during the last months of the Spanish dioceses, arrived in Murcia, at the headquarters of the Hospitality, at 2:00 pm on Friday.

At 5:00 p.m. a time of prayer began in the chapel of the Hospitality, which was too small to accommodate the sick and volunteers.

The Bishop of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, presided at the Eucharist at 8:00 p.m. in the parish of San Juan Bautista.

The prelate spoke of Saint Bernadette as “the first hospital because she had the joy of listening to the Virgin and seeing her with her own eyes;

He also taught us a great lesson: to always serve. â€

Mons. Lorca recalled several of the moments he has lived with the hospital during the pilgrimages to Lourdes and, once again, thanked the service provided by volunteers with the sick: “The hospital heart has no vacation, it has grown in devotion and closeness to our Mother, that is why it is a heart full of tenderness, of mercy, humble, cheerful and always willing to serve. â€

During the celebration, the Bishop blessed the new standard of Hospitality and asked God for "a heart as big as Bernadette's."

After the Eucharist, a Torchlight Procession began with the reliquary of Saint Bernadette and the image of Our Lady of Lourdes until the San Fulgencio Major Seminary, where a prayer vigil took place.

On Saturday morning, the locket was in the Cathedral.

At 10:00 hours the Eucharist was presided by the Archbishop Emeritus of Burgos, Mons. Francisco Gil Hellín, who, at the feast of the Virgen del Pilar, spoke of the figure of Mary as an example of faith: “He made himself available to do God's will".

After the prayer of the Rosary and the Angelus, the reliquary of Saint Bernadette left the Cathedral to go to the Basilica of La Purísima de Yecla, where he remained until Sunday morning.

The delegation that the Hospitality has in this municipality, prepared different acts and celebrations that had the participation of hundreds of Yeclanos.

The president of the Murcian Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes, Joaquín Martínez, expresses his joy for the moments lived during these days.

“It is a grace, a gift from the Lady, that the reliquary of Saint Bernadette, who guards the sanctuary of Lourdes, visits our diocese for the second time.

These days have served to awaken the illusion, hope and joy of this Hospitality that feels small and humble. â€
