Citizens has once again demanded the immediate cessation of the collection by the City of Yecla of the tax on the increase in the value of land of urban nature, known as capital gains tax, after learning that the Ministry of Finance and the Federation of Municipalities have reached an agreement for municipalities to return retroactively the amount unduly charged since June 15 through this tax.

The collection is considered illegal after a ruling of the Constitutional Court of early 2017, which disavowed its collection.

In March of last year, Yecla Citizens already urged the PP Government team to stop collecting it and prepare a specific item to be able to return what was paid in this period, "but the mayor preferred to continue blind his way and continue to squeeze Yeclanos , even being aware that it was something illegal and would have to end up paying and returning the money, "said local orange spokesman, Antonio Puche.

Puche regrets that the tax collection voracity of the government team "has continued to be applied for a tax that everyone recognizes that could not be charged if no profit had been obtained with the sale, and therefore was illegal."

In his opinion, "we think an absolute lack of respect for neighbors, especially if we consider that it is a facultative tax, not mandatory, and that our city is one of the few who continued to apply despite the ruling of the Constitutional "

Citizens Yecla recalls that in March the spokesman of the PP "came to qualify the motion as interested and not adjusted to legality, and he accused us of being irresponsible .. In the end, this stance of inaction by the government team, that attitude of being at the waiting for events, has also meant that many affected neighbors have been losing even the right to recover their money, since it was not approved with the motion our proposal that they do not prescribe the options of return ".

Puche adds that "now, unfortunately, we must ask ourselves who the irresponsible are and who is now with the obligation to return the illegally collected money.
