PROFEMADERA celebrates 24 years of history with extraordinary days, in Badajoz.
In those days, the IES José Luis Castillo-Puche (Yecla) has been the winner of the national contest of teacher good teaching practices 2018 with his project Shelters Murciélagos, made in collaboration with ANSE (Association of Southeast Naturalists in Murcia)
The works of bat shelter manufacturing have been developed in the Workshops of IES JOSÉ LUIS CASTILLO PUCHE DE YECLA.
The students of the training cycles, make a real product in a real situation, where the Workshop Manager (student) is responsible for organizing in different jobs to carry out the entire manufacturing process, to colleagues and where the goal is the manufacture of these shelters in a given time.
The actions of conservation of bats have been developed in Calasparra, Cieza, Murcia and Cartagena and have had the participation of volunteers and owners as well as different organisms such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment of Spain through the Biodiversity Foundation, the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, the City of Murcia, the City Council of Calasparra, the OISMA, Aguas de Murcia and Hidrogea, as well as the rice sector through the cooperative "Virgen de la Esperanza" and the Flor de Calasparra
During the next months, experts in chiroptera will periodically monitor the boxes to verify the success of the measure, as it has been done in Calasparra within the framework of the European project LIFE + Ripisilvanatura.
The students of the IES José Luis Castillo Puche Wood School (Yecla) have participated in the construction of the shelters, which have contributed to the development of a new box model that facilitates the tracking of bats.
