The IMAS eliminates 11 places of attention to the dependency in the center of La Rambla (24/04/2018)

From the Municipal Group of IU-Green we want to ask for explanations to the Councilor for Social Policy before their lack of reaction for the elimination of 11 places of attention to the dependence carried out by the IMAS in the Day Center of La Rambla.

Said Councilor has justified the decision of that entity arguing the lack of facilities in the center and trying to even reverse the fault towards the families of the users.

And yet, it is the family members who have clearly expressed themselves in the sense of claiming the permanence of their elders in that center.

In our opinion, it is completely without logic that existing a certain number of public places, endowed and budgeted, and that respond adequately to the needs of users, as they themselves say, be eliminated to arrange these same places in a private center, that will receive public money.

However, the complacency of the popular party for the privatization of these places can not surprise us because it responds, neither more nor less, than the policies that the party has been developing for many years in terms of dependency, characterized by lack of interest and sensitivity towards that group and that seem to have as final goal the disintegration of the public system of attention to the now existing dependency to deliver it to the mercantilist interests of the private residences.

If there are deficits in the provision of the service in the center of La Rambla, as stated by the council itself, it will be the task of the government team to fight and work to solve them, claiming before the autonomous community a higher quality of existing places and not, as has been done, to limit itself to abide by and support a decision that what it does is to harm Yecla and benefit a private company.

The Elderly Center of the Rambla is a reference in Yecla and it is necessary to ensure its permanence, both in the provision of assistance to the unit and in the rest of the services offered to the elderly.

Services that in recent years have been significantly reduced and reduced by PP cuts, to the point that many times they subsist thanks to the selfless will of professors and collaborators who offer their services for free.

In conclusion, Yecla needs to develop policies that prioritize attention to the dependency and the PP government team, in view of what happened, is not in a position to offer them
