Work begins on extension of the northern bypass road to Villena (09/02/2011)

The project, budgeted at nearly 2.8 million, will clear the Fair Avenue traffic of 10,000 vehicles per day

The works that will connect the northern bypass and the road has begun Villena.

Yecla Mayor presided this morning over the laying of the cornerstone, which was attended by the Director General of Local Government, Juan Antonio Morales.

These works have a total budget of 2,776,073 euros, and are subsidized by the Ministry of the Presidency and government of the Autonomous Region in 575,000 euros in the Basic Municipal Infrastructure Plan.

The implementation of this road has been established in thirteen months, is the last step to close the belt around Yecla and north from the road to Fuente Alamo, whose entry has just finished, to Exit Villena.

Its implementation will decongest the city traffic, particularly on the Avenue of the Fair, where currently 10,000 vehicles a day pass, and facilitate access to such important points as the Hospital, the industrial estates of the road de Villena, the Fair Furniture, a health center and a school.

The work consists of constructing two lanes of 3.50m each direction, separated by a median of 1.00 m, where would the streetlights and sidewalks of 2.50 m, which would place the overall network of water and the provision of infrastructure sanitation telecommunications network would be located on the right side road.

The slope of the left bank would be protected by riprap, and that will be in contact with an area prone to flooding.

Round Extending north from Highway Caudete to Villena is "one of the most important books of our town" in the words of Councillor for Public Works, Marcos Ortuño.

The new road, Ortuño adds, "will improve safety and traffic flow, because there are many who daily yeclanos move around the industrial estates of the road de Villena."
