The yeclanos can try the wines of the event Ventorrillo Designation of Origin (09/05/2011)

The Competition IV Yecla Wine Selection 2011, to be held on Friday, valued sixty wines from four wineries in the Designation of Origin Yecla.

All these wines can be tasted at low prices on The tavern, installed in the old station on Wednesday and Thursday from 20 to 24 hours on Friday from 12 to 16 and 20 to 24 hours, and Saturday from 12 to 15 hours.

The wines, some of the best sommeliers in the country tasted on Friday to pick the best, are divided into six categories: pink, white, red harvest 2008 and 2009 without oak aging, red harvest 2008 and 2009 step in wood, red wood to step in before the 2008 harvest and dessert wines.

This competition, recognized by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, is associated with the celebration of the Feast of San Isidro Labrador, declared of Regional Tourist Interest.

The day of the contest will begin on Friday at 10 am with the sixty wine tasting presented in the tasting room of the Council of the Designation of Origin Yecla, located in the Industrial UrbaYecla II.

This year's jury is chaired by the journalist Andrew Proensa and nine other professional tasters.

Their decision will be announced on the same Friday night during a dinner hosted by the Control Board in which the distinctions awarded to the winners.

In the three previous editions have been awarded 51 prizes for the best wines of the Appellation of Origin Yecla selected among the 150 samples submitted.

With this initiative the City of Yecla and the Council of the Designation of Origin Yecla seek to exalt the excellence of wines yeclanos to bring them closer to the hoteliers, restaurateurs, distributors, retailers and consumers, and ensure that greater value yeclanos culture wine as part of local history.

The Denomination of Origin Yecla has 7,600 hectares of vineyards spread over 800 farms.

The most important grape variety in them is Monastrell, but also grown Syrah, Tempranillo, Airen, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Blanc, Macabeo, Garnacha, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Petit Verdot Totorera.
