Decreed three days of official mourning on the death of Yecla mayor (06/09/2011)

This afternoon will be installed in the chapel of the Plenary Hall of the City

Tomorrow will officiate at the funeral Mass at 17.00 in the Basilica of the Immaculate Yecla

Spokesmen for the City Council's political groups have agreed to enact Yecla three days of official mourning for the death today of the mayor, Juan Miguel Benedito Rodriguez.

Thus, the Board of Spokesmen tries to express the general feeling of regret of the members of the Municipal Corporation and the entire city of Yecla.

The mourning starts today and ends late on Thursday.

During these three days the flags will fly at half mast on municipal buildings and suspended all events organized by the city of Yecla.

The chapel will be installed this afternoon at the Plenary Hall of the City Council.

On Wednesday 7 September officiate at the funeral Mass for Juan Miguel Benedito Rodriguez at 17.00 in the Basilica of the Immaculate Yecla.

Also for tomorrow has been called an extraordinary plenary session at 9 am to ratify the state mourning today and formally agreed the condolences of the Municipal Corporation.

The weekly street market every Wednesday is installed next to City Hall will not work tomorrow.

Juan Miguel Benedito was born in Yecla on August 14, 1957.

He was married with two children.

He was graduated in Medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Murcia since 1983 and was a specialist in Family and Community Medicine.

Currently serving as physician at the Health Center Palao Francisco Molina de Yecla.

As for his political career, was a councilor in the city of Yecla since 1987.

In particular, he played, the positions of Councillor for Health and Social Services, and Councillor of Works and Urban Development as well as Municipal People's Party spokesman from 1995 to 2003

In 2003, he agreed to the Mayor of Yecla, a position he continued to play until today, revalidate after the municipal elections of 2007 and recent 2011, in which the list was headed by an absolute majority.

It was also the president of the Partido Popular de Yecla, which were previously part of the Local Executive.

Today also was president of Regional Furniture Fair Yecla.
