The regional government has approved a grant of 20,000 euros to the city of Yecla in order to assist in the restoration of the church of San Francisco in this county.
Among the actions to be carried out include the consolidation of the structure of the building, under the covers, the restoration of the facade and constructing a tower attached to the church to allow the completion of an internal staircase to communicate different floors.
The church, located in the northern part of the road that crosses Yecla, in the old Camino Real, is currently the only remnant that remains of its former Franciscan convent and then the Piarist College.
In whole-church is the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, belonging to the SFO.
The object of this action is the recovery of the church of San Francisco, within the set formed by the two buildings, is the one with the worst condition.
The project also includes the refurbishment of the building as a museum exhibition space and iconographic.
