City of Yecla]

The violence suffered by millions of women all over the world is something that challenges our consciences and sometimes overflows us: women stripped of their rights, assaulted, humiliated, forced into prostitution, raped ...

The alleged superiority has historically been granted to men over women, has wreaked havoc on the lives of many people and in relationships, has resulted in the most glaring cases, the use of violence by men to subjecting the woman he claims to love.

We can no longer look the other way: gender violence has killed 700 women in Spain in the last ten years (45 so far this year), has orphaned hundreds of children, has caused, and still continues to cause, serious injury to the bodies and souls of thousands of women.

Therefore, we do not want to look away, today express publicly our firm rejection to this violence and our commitment, as citizens, to support, understand and accompany all victims of this injustice:

· A leading those many years under the yoke of her attacker who do not dare to dream of a life without abuse.

· To those, still very young, who are unaware that they are suffering because all justify violence in the name of love ...

· To those whose situation especially vulnerable, makes them harder

out of their hell.

· These children and those children who witness violence against their mothers and drag, on many occasions, profound effects on their lives.

Alongside this commitment to society, it is necessary that public authorities continue to work to eradicate gender violence through preventive and educational actions, and providing a coordinated and effective support to all women who need it so they can leave behind abuse.

There is a long way to go, we know.

However, day by day, step by step, we have built the foundations of a society that no longer tolerates this trivializes or justifies violence.

It was a joint effort of citizenship, of associations and institutions whose achievements encourage us to persevere.

We believe that it is possible a society in which men and women live on equal terms, only then be possible to eradicate all forms of violence, from the obvious to the more subtle.

So today, November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we can not forget the other side of abuse: overcoming.

We want to say loud and clear that no way out, and that is something that is confirmed every time a woman comes out of that undeserved situation.

Our recognition unanimous and sincere, to the thousands of anonymous women who today finally feel free, and encouragement to those who have not yet taken the step but with the help of everyone, surely soon will do.

Thank you very much.
