Brown encourages people with mental illness do sports regularly (23/05/2014)

From the Department of Health and Social Policy initiatives to promote the integration of people with mental illness are made

The CEO of Persons with Disabilities of Murcia Institute of Social Action, John Brown, encouraged people with mental illness to make sport a regular basis, "as it improves mental function, autonomy, memory, speed and sense of personal well being. "

Brown was speaking at the conclusion of I Sports Meet Murcia Federation of Associations of Families and Persons with Mental Illness in the Region of Murcia (Feafes), which was accompanied by representatives of the entity and the Mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño.

At this meeting, held in the sports 'Las Pozas' Yecla more than 500 people from different entities associated with Feafes, which brings together more than 1,600 families associated with various municipalities in the region.

A network of resources must be added IMAS offered from Murciano Health Service: 16 mental health centers, 13 units of opiate treatment, 4 specific programs for opiates, 19 rehabilitation units and / or day 6 psychiatric hospital short-stay units, 1 unit of disordered eating behavior, one hospital detoxification unit and 3 units of average stay.

Integration

The CEO of Persons with Disabilities of IMAS, John Brown, explained that since the Ministry of Health and Social Policy initiatives to promote the social integration of people with mental illness are executed.

Thus, programs such as the 'Project Intégrame' or 'Project Pipemar' early intervention in high-risk mental states are made and, in collaboration with the Murcia Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation, occupational programs and workshops are made to may acquire the powers of a trade.

In addition, the Directorate General of Social and Health Planning, Pharmacy and Citizen is spreading to mental health centers in the region the 'Set Program' for these patients to maintain healthy habits and incorporate into your daily routine exercise training.
