The Civil Guard dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to the theft of electrical transformers and irrigation wells in various provinces (19/09/2015)

The performance was conducted by members of the Team burglar in the field (ROCK) Burriana and Sagunto

Because of the theft left out power to large areas of population and productivity without irrigation wells

The Civil Guard have arrested 7 people and 2 more people accused, as alleged perpetrators of 25 crimes of robberies, belonging to a criminal organization, havoc and a crime against traffic safety.

Also, the detainees could now be involved in 20 other crimes that are still being investigated, so that more arrests are not ruled out.

The performance of the Civil Guard began in April this year, when a patrol of the Civil Guard Barracks Moncofa identified several people and a vehicle near the polygon Belcaire Norte, acting suspiciously and varied tools and unusual, such as hydraulic jacks, voltage meters, large shears and wrenches and screwdrivers of different sizes.

Following this, and because many thefts that came producing centers of power transformation and irrigation wells in the province of Castellon and Valencia (in which was extracted from the electrical transformer winding copper and electrical wiring) , ROCK agents of the Civil Guard team Burriana, in conjunction with the Puerto de Sagunto ROCK Team, launched "Operation Brimstone".

During the investigation, a criminal organization dedicated to theft of copper wire winding and located inside electrical transformers was discovered.

This band had an open structure, with two members to the head, one of them a specialist in electricity, which decided and planned where and when the theft be committed, with the other members of the organization which implementation tasks are distributed thereof, transport and surveillance for the crimes.

Therefore, we proceeded to the arrest of 7 persons and the allocation of other 2, all of Romanian nationality and aged between 23 and 42, as alleged perpetrators of 25 crimes of robberies, membership of a criminal organization, havoc and a crime against traffic safety.

With these arrests dismantled one of the most active bands that were dedicated to this type of theft electric transformation centers and irrigation wells and operating in towns like La Vall de Uixo, Onda, Betxi, Geldo, Segorbe, Burriana, moncofar and Nules province of Castellon, and stocks Algemesi, Xativa, Siete Aguas, Sagunto, Benifairo, Faura, Cheste, Ribarroja and Albal in the province of Valencia, and the Albentosa Teruel province and Yecla Murcia.

These thefts produced a huge social alarm, because they left without electricity to neighboring populations and productive lost in irrigation wells affected and is also a serious risk to the physical integrity of persons, and that once made stealing the authors left open the transformation centers where tension still had power, anyone can enter them and receive a fatal electric shock.

We have recovered about 1,000 kilograms of stolen copper, as well as plenty of tools and materials used to commit the robberies.

The total value of stolen equipment worth over 200,000 euros, and the value of the damage could be much higher than that amount.

The proceedings initiated with the detainees have been available to the Court of 1st Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Sagunto (Valencia).

The performance of the Civil Guard has been made by members of the Rock and equipment Burriana Team Rock Sagunto.

Recalls that the Civil Guard has an emergency number, 062, that can be used by citizens 24 hours a day to report any type of incident or action that may be suspicious.
