Inaugurates the San Isidro residence for elderly people, with the capacity to accommodate 84 residents and 30 day center places
Meets with the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Yecla, whose work and uniqueness of the Monastrell grape has made that 92 percent of its production is consumed outside of Spain
The president of the Community, Fernando Lopez Miras, said today that he will continue "demanding and vindicating the Government of Pedro Sanchez, as he did before with the Government of Mariano Rajoy, the infrastructure that the Region of Murcia needs" and, in In this sense, he affirmed that "he hopes that the works of the last section of the A-33 dual carriageway, between Yecla and Caudete, will be carried out within the foreseen deadlines and that they will be tendered this year as it was committed".
López Miras made these statements during his institutional visit to Yecla, where he inaugurated the San Isidro residence for the elderly and held a working meeting with the municipal government team to address issues of interest to the municipality, such as infrastructure or employment.
Regarding infrastructures, he highlighted the progress made in Yecla and gave an example of the A-33 highway, which connects with Jumilla, "and that we finished a year earlier than expected".
In addition, he promised that next year "there will be a budget and the third section of the Yecla-Fuente Álamo highway will be tendered."
The works corresponding to the second section of this road have just concluded and will be inaugurated shortly.
They have acted on a total of 9.4 kilometers and have invested two million euros.
"Yecla is an economic engine that contributes to make more Region and, therefore, more Spain," said the president, who highlighted "the great work of the government team, which translates into objective data such as those related to employment, which is the best social policy, "he said.
He remarked that "Yecla is above the regional average in job creation and decrease in the number of unemployed."
In the last twelve months, unemployment fell by 5.58 percent in this municipality (160 fewer unemployed), compared to the regional 3.65 percent.
The president moved his commitment to continue betting on active employment policies, which this year has been allocated more than 500,000 euros in Yecla.
Care for the elderly
After the meeting with the municipal government team, the president inaugurated the San Isidro de Yecla residence for the elderly, with capacity for 84 residents and 30 day center places.
López Miras remarked that the Community has signed specific concerts and has already hired 15 places of residence and 20 day centers "to guarantee the well-being and care of the elderly of Yecla".
In total, more than 22,000 dependent elderly people are served by the Community, between financial aid and services.
In addition, during this term 735 residential and day care centers for the elderly have been created, which means that the Region currently has 4,188 places.
During 2018 it is in the process of expanding 264 residential spaces.
Wines from the Region in international markets
Prior to the inauguration of the San Isidro residence, the president met with the members of the Regulatory Council of the Yecla Protected Designation of Origin, whose work and the uniqueness of the Monastrell grape, has resulted in 92 percent of its production being consumed already outside Spain.
Its wineries allocate most of its production to international trade, with a total of 6.5 million liters sold.
The main destinations are Denmark, the United States, Germany, Canada, China and Japan.
