On July 4, 2016, the municipal groups of IU-Verdes and PSOE took to the plenary a motion for equality and against discrimination of the LGTBI collective.
The motion went ahead with an amendment to the totality by the Popular Group, through which they committed themselves to "redouble efforts to implement policies and strengthen the actions that are carried out to contribute to the public's awareness and rejection of any discriminatory act due to the sexual orientation of the people ".
It was also approved to promote from the city hall and from all public administrations, the denunciation of any act of discrimination based on race, sex or religion, among other aspects.
In summary, the amendment went ahead only with the votes of the Popular GM.
Even so, and despite its approval, in the two years that have passed, neither of the two points of the agreement has been carried out.
But there is more, because there is also no compliance with Law 8/2016, of May 27, on the social equality of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, transgender and intersexuals, and public policies against discrimination based on sexual orientation and identity. gender in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, at least in some of its articles: article 6 (recognition and institutional support, especially on commemorative dates) and article 25 (Comprehensive plan on education and LGBTI diversity).
In addition, we remember the importance of complying with article 50, that of infractions.
It is considered a serious offense to carry out acts that imply isolation, rejection or public or notorious disparagement of persons due to sexual orientation, identity or gender expression.
For all this, from the Municipal Group of IU-Verdes de Yecla we denounce that the government team is breaching both a plenary agreement and the current legislation repeatedly and we demand that this situation be ended once and for all.
Equity among all people is the basic principle of any society that is considered civilized and we believe that the people of Yecla and its inhabitants deserve that.
For all this, we require the mayor to comply with the July 2016 plenary agreement regarding the motion "for equality and against discrimination of the LGTBI collective".
Likewise, we ask that Law 8/2016 on social equality in the Region of Murcia be complied with.
We also request that the rainbow flag be waved every May 17 (International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbofobia, Biphobia and Transphobia) and tomorrow, June 28, (International Day of LGBTI Pride) as recommended in article 6.3 of the law cited above.
Finally, it is essential that the Municipality of Yecla not program or allow any misogynistic, transphobic or homophobic act or that may involve an attack of any kind to the LGTBI collective to be carried out in any municipal dependency or public space.
