In the mid-thirties of the last century, in Europe there were more dictatorships than democracies.
All of them and according to the situation of the time, they were enormously nationalistic and had little attachment to the freedoms that are enjoyed today in those same countries.
Eighty years later they revive those old ghosts.
The advance of the extreme right is more than worrisome and it is urgent to work to stop it.
In Spain we are not alien to the groups that try to promote their exclusive, violent and authoritarian ideology.
According to the "Raxen Report 2017" more than 600 xenophobic incidents and hate crimes were reported last year.
In our country there is no political formation that institutionally projects racism and xenophobia, but there are numerous collectives and racist groups that are promoting hatred and carrying out these attacks as Social Home Madrid, Combat Spain, Hammerskin or Lo Nuestro, among others.
Their racial concepts lead them to despise those who do not share their culture, religion, customs, values or traditions and, in the face of these precepts, few people are excluded from being potential victims.
The data that concern the Region of Murcia, show that we are among the seven autonomous communities where more cases of violence related to hate and intolerance have occurred in 2017.
Also, these groups promote racial segregation, xenophobia, homophobia and racism through actions such as collecting food "only for Spaniards", thus discriminating against a large number of people because of their race, religion or nationality.
This type of action contravenes Article 14 of the Spanish Constitution, which reads as follows: "Spaniards are equal before the law, without any discrimination based on birth, race, sex, religion, opinion or any other condition or discrimination. personal or social circumstance. "
Our municipality has always been characterized as a place where all people are treated in the same way, regardless of race, place of origin, sexual condition or ideology and therefore we should not remain indifferent to these groups and their xenophobic and racist actions that from time to time they take place in Yecla.
In fact, we are aware that several residents of this city have been violently attacked for no apparent reason, other than those that may emanate from their clothing or ideology.
It is our duty to prevent this from happening and ensure the respect and well-being of all the people residing in Yecla, no matter where they come from, regardless of their skin color or their sexual condition.
For all this, we need the City Council of Yecla to declare itself against and condemn any practice of racism, xenophobia or any other manifestation of discrimination or incitement to hatred based on race, religion, place of origin or sexual orientation.
But also, that does not authorize the use of municipal public spaces to groups that promote hatred, xenophobia, racism, homophobia, or any other behavior of this nature.
Also, we ask the City Council to commit to supporting the acts and demonstrations that are carried out to eradicate these violent groups.
