It has been more than a year since the deadline for the company responsible for carrying out the extension to deliver the work.
To this day, the councilman claims not to know when it will be opened.
Meanwhile, users suffer the consequences.
In September 2016, the Town Hall of Yecla approved to allocate 1.8 million euros to reform the indoor pool.
A project was drafted then, which would include a new glass for teaching, changing rooms, auxiliary spaces such as reception, offices, playroom, self-service bar or gallery for spectators.
The budget of the work amounted to 1.8 million euros.
In October of that year, 27 companies had applied for the award.
At that time, it was dictated that the works should end "in the last quarter of 2017", that is, almost a year ago.
Time passed and in November 2017 the Councilor for Sports, Pedro Romero, organized a media visit to hype and cymbal.
There he said that the works were already "in the process of completion".
Moreover, the doors were finally open after Christmas "with a delay of one and a half months compared to what was planned."
However, almost a year has passed since then and we are still there.
The funniest thing in the story is that the winning company, the UTE Servimar Instalaciones Sánchez Mateos received the highest score among the 27 companies submitted for lowering the budget to 1.4 million euros and for reducing the deadline in 2 ,5 months.
In summary, the tender for the extension work of the indoor pool was awarded with a budget of 1,402,704.49 euros and a deadline of 9.5 months.
That is, until September 2017.
In the end, the City Council ended up granting extensions until in February of this year there was a new chapter of such a bizarre history.
In the middle of that month, the pool closed one day for its set-up, although the reception of the work had not yet been carried out.
At that time, Pedro Romero said he would fine the company with about 200 euros for each day of delay in delivery.
More chapters?
Of course.
The work was finally received in July of this year, to be evaluated by the municipal technicians and proceed to put it into operation.
But to this day, in the middle of October, it still has not been conditioned.
It is still necessary to clean, furnish and start the filtration systems.
The Sports councilor does not dare to give opening date and meanwhile, users still suffer from the lack of spaces, showers and changing rooms, services to which the fee they have paid entitles them to enjoy in good conditions and yet it is the opposite, to the point that sometimes very annoying situations of great disorganization take place, which has generated much discomfort.
Therefore, from the Municipal Group of IU-Green we want to highlight the incompetence of this City Council and, more specifically, the Department of Sports, not knowing how to put the neglect of the construction company and not effectively manage a situation that would have to be solved more than a year ago.
Once again, Yecla and Yecla are affected by the great incompetence of this Government Team.
