The Community will invest a total of 3.9 million euros in improving the road that connects the Alicante town of Pinoso with the urban center of Yecla (RM-424), and finish the regional road linking this city with Fuente Alamo de Albacete ( RM-404).
These actions will improve the mobility of the residents of Yecla, strengthen road safety and will improve the comfort of these roads, which are part of the road network of the Region of Murcia.
The performance of the RM-404 has a budget of about 3,500,000 euros and the RM-424 will cost 400,000 euros.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, together with the mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuo, announced this investment.
Valverde explained that the termination of the Yecla connection with Fuente lamo de Albacete has the objective of improving road safety and reducing the time of the itineraries.
The action on the third and last section of this road will consist of extending the platform up to nine meters and renewing the road, drainage and signaling in a total length of 9,473 meters.
"When the work of the RM-404 is completed, the Community will have invested in the improvement of this regional road in Yecla a total of 7 million euros in 24.4 kilometers in length," said the counselor, who pointed out that the term of execution of the works will be seven months from the award of the tender.
The counselor explained that the completion of this road responds to the commitment of the president of the regional executive and will have an economic impact in the area, since activity will be increased by allowing heavy vehicles to circulate and access farms located in the vicinity of the regional route.
The Municipality of Yecla is already managing the availability of the necessary land to be able to carry out the work of the road that reaches Fuente lamo, just as it was done in the previous sections.
The traffic of the RM-424 multiplied by four
The counselor explained that his Department has detected a significant increase in traffic on the RM-424 highway due to the start-up of the A-33 highway, between Jumilla and Yecla, and demanded that the Government of Spain "urgently tender the Yecla-Caudete section, because until this state highway is operational, it will end in a regional highway that is dimensioned for other traffics ".
"The circulation of RM-424 has multiplied by three in light vehicles and four in heavy vehicles, which has produced a significant deterioration in the firm," said the counselor, who explained that the average vehicle intensity is 6.317, of which 1,217 are heavy.
For this reason, the regional manager announced that will be included in next year's budget a game of 400,000 euros to strengthen the firm of 3.5 kilometers on this regional route.
