In July, our proposal was "under study"
Last July, the Municipal Group of the United Left-Green took a motion on the implementation of a Local Plan against Juvenile Ludopathy, with a number of specific points of the different powers of the City Council regarding Health , Police and Urbanism.
This proposal was not approved, but it was accepted for study.
However, the Regional Government has stipulated a minimum distance for the location of the new betting rooms in relation to the educational centers, but what it does not include are measures against juvenile gambling.
Although it is a good start, we consider that the approach from the Regional Administration is totally insufficient, and more considering that we are the Community with more betting houses per inhabitant.
Both the Regional Administration and the City Council have to have a greater involvement in the face of proliferation, without control of these betting houses and also online, advertising and spaces used.
For all this, we reiterate to the city council to study the distance that exists between the educational centers and the three betting houses that are in Yecla, to check if any breach the new regulations of 500 meters away from every educational center.
Likewise, we ask that the training of the local police be promoted to make them more familiar with the most common infractions related to betting and gambling;
access to minors, legal incapacitated persons and persons with access to legally restricted gambling.
Likewise, we ask that the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia be urged to draw up a plan of gambling addiction in young people that includes measures to fight against addictive behaviors to gambling and gambling with the elaboration of information campaigns about the consequences of the game through printed material, written press, radio, television and internet.
Finally, we ask that the City Council proposes to the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia the inclusion of gambling addiction, addiction to betting, in a plan on addictions that not only pick up those linked to the consumption of psychoactive substances, such and as reflected in the national strategy on drugs (2017-2024).
