A ruling declared exempt from tax on income tax maternity and paternity benefits between 2014 and 2017. The City must inform about it because you must request the return between December and January.
On October 3, the Supreme Court issued a ruling declaring exempt maternity benefits on taxation of Personal Income Tax, also establishing the refund of this tax unduly collected between 2014 and 2017.
As a result of that ruling, the Government of Spain, through the website of the Tax Agency, is enabling hundreds of thousands of people, who were fathers and mothers between 2014 and 2017, to request the return of the withholding taxes in those exercises they practiced social security for their maternity and paternity benefits.
There is a problem of deadlines, since the refund of withholdings on benefits practiced in the 2014 and 2015 periods must be requested before December 31, 2018. Those of the following two years may be required during the entire month of January 2019.
We must bear in mind that, according to data from the Regional Statistics Center of Murcia, in Yecla were born about 1,400 boys and girls between those years, so this measure could benefit hundreds of families in our area.
But for this return to be effective it is necessary to put at the service of the residents of our city all the necessary resources to inform and facilitate the claim in a timely manner.
And that role must be played by the City Council, as a public administration closer to the citizen.
For all this, from the Municipal Group of IU-Green we ask Mr. Mayor to enable a section on the municipal website with all the information regarding these claims on maternity-paternity benefits and to provide guidance guides for this purpose , so that it reaches all citizens, thus saving the digital divide, since not all citizens have access to new technologies or understand them.
