The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, opened last night the exhibition 'Painting of the threads.
The embroidery of Manola Puche ', an artist "whose works have already passed into the history of Yecla," according to the regional chief executive, who stressed that "Manola Puche is one of those people who, with their daily work and from anonymity , make the Region of Murcia much better ".
López Miras said that "Manola Puche has managed to do something extraordinary with her dedication to the art of embroidery since she was 10 years old, to the point that we can affirm that she has created a Yeclana embroidery school".
"The administrations have to support people like her," he remarked.
The exhibition, which is open to the public until January 6 at the Casa Palacio de los Ortega in Yecla, includes works by Manola Puche throughout his career.
As a result of his professional activity, he has been responsible for the restoration of the Banner of Charles III exhibited in the plenary hall of the City Council, the shields of the city of Yecla of the presidential chairs of the Concha Segura Theater, or the restoration of the mantle of the Delegation of the Virgin of the Castle.
As for Holy Week, Manola Puche has been responsible for more than two decades of the conservation of the sheets and trousseau of the Christ Yacente, has restored the ancient mantle of the Virgen de los Dolores and has embroidered the present one.
