The visits to the wineries of our locality increased 27 percent with respect to the previous year "We are betting on a day and weekend tourism, a product that interests with a work that is supported by good data" The mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, has traveled to the Fitur tourism fair to support Yecla's tourism commitment.
"A bet that focuses on day and weekend tourism, tourism that is on the rise and is offering good results," said Marcos Ortuño.
Some data that offer an increase of the tourist visits registered in the tourist office that suppose a 9 percent more than in 2017 and that for the warehouses attached to the Route of the Wine Yecla has been of the 27 percent, concretely a total of 7.063 visits
If we break this data we can find how the international visitor has grown 23 percent while the increase in the national tourist has been somewhat more moderate with 6 percent.
Likewise, the web turismo.yecla.es -principal tourist showcase of our town on the web- has managed to grow exponentially by expanding the number of its visitors by 20 percent.
"It is clear that cultural tourism, wine tourism and tourism linked to parties is fashionable.
We have a very interesting offer in this aspect.
Our parties are linked to our gastronomy, to local and unique products, to some magnificent and well-known wines all over the world.
And to all this we can join some archaeological sites that are offering magnificent results and a great cultural heritage of which this year, for its 150th anniversary, we could highlight our basilica of La Purisima ".
Marcos Ortuño said, adding that "the presentation of the Fiestas de la Virgen together with some of our most traditional gastronomic products such as the libricos or the blessed bread of San Blas, and our wines from Yecla, are a great showcase for Yecla and another step to achieve the declaration of our celebrations as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO ".
