The city of Yecla dressed with its best chevrons during this Sunday to welcome the celebration of its tenth duathlon.
An anniversary that was attended by one of the Spanish triathlon promises, Javier Romo, who did not disappoint and ended up raising the winner's ribbon.
The triathlete of the University of Alicante dominated during the whole race, completing the 5-kilometer running race, 20 cycling and the final 2 and a half running again, in 55 minutes and 11 seconds.
The yeclana test was full of excitement counting on the starting line with another of the heavyweights Murcia circuit, Guillaume Le Mouhaer, which this year competes under the ranks of the Primaflor Eagle Triathlon Club.
Le Mouhaer and Romo made the first sector together, but the French gave in the cycling sector relegating to second place with a time of 56 minutes and 30 seconds, marking the best times in the race on foot.
The third position of the men's absolute podium was for Ovidi Albert Espí, also from the University of Alicante who, after completing the 20 kilometers of bike with Guillaume, could not withstand the strong pace imposed by the Frenchman in the last sector of the race on foot, finishing the test with a time of 57 minutes and 5 seconds.
As for the women's competition, the victory fell again for the University of Alicante, in the figure of Eva Martín-Moreno who won with the victory in the last meters of the race on foot raising the winning tape with a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 25 seconds.
The second classified was Soledad Martínez, from the Primaflor Águilas Triathlon Club, who fought during all the tests with the UA triathlete giving in the last meters of the race on foot, stopping the clock in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 43 seconds.
Leire Gallardo, of the Petrer Triathlon Club, occupied the third place after leaving, in the closing stages of the competition, of the group formed in the cycling sector with the local triathlete, Beatriz Ortín, and the ciezana, Irene Lucas.
Gallardo marked a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 12 seconds.
League of Minors
The minors also played the second day of the league that counted on the victories of Alejandro López, of the EDM Caravaca de la Cruz, and Cinta Nicolás, of the Tritones Murcia Sport Club, as winners of the Alevín category;
Pablo León, of the EDM Caravaca de la Cruz, and Nieves Navarro, of the Tritones Murcia Sport Club, in Infantil;
Jesús Montoya, from the Caravaca Triathlon Club, and Isabel María Navarro, from the Yecla-Catlike Triathlon Club, in Cadete.
The next appointment of the Duathlon Regional League will be next Sunday, February 17, at Torre Pacheco
