One more year, the Furniture and Wood Technology Center of the Region of Murcia (CETEM), announces the 24th edition of the International Furniture Design Industrial Competition, which this year coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the technology center.
The objective of this contest is to promote the approach between industrial designers and furniture companies, fostering the culture of industrial design in the habitat sector to demonstrate the importance of Design in the innovation process and its considerable contribution to industrial success.
Since the first International Industrial Furniture Design Competition of CETEM in 1996, more than 1,700 projects have been presented between the two categories, coming from different parts of the world, which have served as a collaboration vehicle between designers and companies.
To these data we must add the collaboration of more than 180 companies that during these two decades have been in charge of transforming paper projects into real and tangible products.
"One of our objectives has been to introduce design as a tool of added value in companies, we needed to break the 'cultural barrier' that separated designers and entrepreneurs, especially for the latter to trust the former in order to generate innovative products. and increasingly efficient processes, "says José Francisco Puche, director of CETEM.
The theme of this contest is the design of a furniture or element of the habitat that involves an innovation at any level: new conceptual proposals, formal aspect, materials, adaptation to new lifestyles, etc.
The deadline for submission of projects will end on May 31, 2019 and can participate individually or as a team, both students and professionals over 18 years.
CETEM makes available to all interested parties the web www.concursomueble.cetem.es where they can make the online registration, check the rules of the contest and see the winning projects of previous editions, in addition the proposals can be sent to CETEM (C / Perales s / n, 30510, Yecla, Murcia).
