The president attends the opening ceremony of the 58th edition of the Yecla Furniture Fair, where he highlights that the sector already accounts for 6 percent of the total production in Spain
So far this year, the sector of wood and regional furniture has increased exports by 10 percent through the 1,127 companies that group and generate more than 6,800 jobs
The president of the Community, Fernando Lopez Miras, highlighted today, that the sector of the regional furniture "has known how to reinvent itself and exceeds each year in quality, design and innovation", and stressed that "it already supposes the production of 6 percent of the total of Spain through 1,127 companies, which provide more than 6,800 jobs and produce value of more than 575 million euros.
López Miras made these statements at the opening of the 58th edition of the Furniture Fair of Yecla, which offers the opportunity to show progress in this area and encourage regional companies to conquer the international markets.
The Chief Executive reiterated his commitment to a sector "that every year generates more jobs" and where exports have increased by 10 percent so far this year.
Currently, the furniture of the Region is present in traditional markets of the European Union, such as France, Portugal or the United Kingdom, but also China and North Africa.
He stressed the commitment to the internationalization of this sector, and the role of the Development Institute in this task of supporting companies in their projection to other markets.
Also, organized by the info and the employers of the furniture (Arema), the Yecla Furniture Fair will host the 'International Meeting of the Furniture', a forum that will be attended by 30 foreign companies, importers, furniture distributors, chains of furniture stores with importing capacity or commercial agents from 10 countries.
