The health area of ​​the Altiplano celebrates its 'Smoke Free Week' until Friday, May 31, to raise awareness among the population of Yecla and Jumilla about the benefits of quitting tobacco use.
In this activity, both the Virgen del Castillo Hospital and the health centers of Yecla and Jumilla participate and take place within the framework of the World Day without tobacco that is celebrated on May 31.
In all the health centers and in strategic places of the municipality of Yecla, information tables will be placed with the delivery of pamphlets and material with tips for the prevention of smoking and the abandonment of this habit.
Tomorrow Wednesday, May 29, the information table will be placed in the market square of Yecla;
on the 30th in the 'José Ortega Churruca' Sports Pavilion, where healthy activities will be developed, such as a Tai-Chi show and geronto-gymnastics, in collaboration with the Elderly Social Center of Yecla.
In addition, other activities will be held as an exhibition of informative videos about smoking in the waiting rooms of health centers and a talk on smoking on May 31 at the Health Center 'Mariano Yago' by Dr. Diana Mercedes Ramírez, directed to all the professionals of the center, as well as a drawing competition related to smoking where all children who go to health centers or are admitted to the hospital can participate.
The drawings will be kept in the waiting rooms of pediatrics until June 7, day of delivery of the prizes by the coordinators of the health centers.
