The Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, visited the public school Méndez Núñez de Yecla today together with the mayor of the municipality, Marcos Ortuño, to see first hand the result of the works carried out for the removal of fiber cement from the facilities.
The action, which was scheduled before the schedule of actions of the Energy Efficiency and Climate Reconversion Plan presented by the Ministry of Education and Culture, has been to replace all areas of the center's roof that were executed with fiber cement.
In its place, a metal panel cover has been placed that, according to the Minister, "improves the thermal conditions, while reducing the risk that the installed covers could pose on the health of the users of the center."
Last December, the Minister presented said Plan that has an investment of 26.6 million euros, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and whose priority objective is to withdraw in all schools the construction elements containing fiber cement .
Precisely, this calendar includes performances in another school in Yecla.
This is the La Paz school, built in 1981, and according to the program of the Ministry will replace its cover in the biennium 2026-27.
Esperanza Moreno also had the opportunity to visit the church of San Francisco, where the Community has invested 225,000 euros for the change of roofs of the main nave and the side aisles of the chapel of the Virgen de las Angustias.
