Citizens drive a solution to the blackouts in Yecla and the development of clean energy parks in the Altiplano (21/01/2020)

The training calls for a harmonization between state legislation and urban planning standards in Jumilla on power lines to achieve both objectives

End the blackout newspapers that plague Yecla and Jumilla cyclically and encourage the development of alternative energy parks for the entire Altiplano region.

These are the objectives of the initiative that Citizens has registered in the City Council of Yecla, in which a “harmonization†of the regulations on state electrical infrastructure and the collection in the urban planning standards of the PGOU of Jumilla is requested.

"While the state norm foresees a minimum distance of five meters with respect to housing, the municipality increases that distance to one meter per kilowatt, which in practice implies a distance of 132 meters, economically unfeasible to face its modification or extension", explained the spokesman of the orange municipal group, Antonio Puche.

“This limitation, unprecedented in any other municipality of the Region, prevents the interconnection between the substations of both municipalities, which means that both Yecla and Jumilla are permanently at risk of blackouts, such as the one that occurred recently or January 2017 , also during a storm â€, added the liberal mayor.

In 2003, Iberdrola already warned of the problems involved in this lack of legal harmonization, which prevents it from undertaking an interconnection between substations and eliminating the blackout ghost.

Another of the undesirable consequences of this disparity between regulations is the impossibility of developing investments in the area for the installation of renewable energy parks, such as wind or photovoltaic: “The investment that would require harmonizing the high-voltage electrical network of the Altiplano discourages potential investors, subtracting opportunities to the more than 57,000 inhabitants of the region, â€added Puche, who believes that“ harmonization would lower costs, simplify the network and attract investments that generate employment and improve our environment, â€
