The Councilor for Sports, Pedro Romero and the President of the Orientation Federation of the Region of Murcia (FORM) Francisco Guerao, presented this morning the 32nd edition of the International Orientation Trophy Costa Cálida to be held on February 29 and 1 March in Yecla.
Pedro Romero has thanked the confidence of the Orientation Federation of the Region of Murcia and the support of the Yecla Excursionist Center, which together with Civil Protection, Red Cross and numerous volunteers will make it possible for our city to become a reference point for those days. the sports orientation of all Spain.
Francisco Guerao recalled that the Costa Cálida trophy has become the most prestigious test of Spanish orientation.
Some 1300 registrants are expected to participate, of which about 400 will come from almost twenty European countries, in addition to Hong Kong.
There will also be the participation of all clubs in the Region.
The President of the FORM has highlighted the economic impact that this sporting event will have in the region.
The planned program starts from February 24 to 27 with official training.
On Friday 28, dorsals are delivered at the María José Mrtínez Pavilion and free recognition races can be held.
Already on Saturday, February 29, starting at 8:30 am, from the Bioclimatic building, the long distance race that runs through the area of ​​the Fuentealamo area will start.
In the afternoon, from 4:00 p.m., sprint race in the old town, with a goal in the Plaza Mayor, which will allow you to visualize more closely this sport modality.
On Sunday, March 1, middle career, from 9:00 am, in the same area of ​​the Fuentealamo.
The Councilor for Sports recalled that coinciding with the celebration of this trophy, on Saturday, February 15, an initiation course has been organized for sports orientation, in the bioclimatic building, which aims to promote this sport in Yecla.

About Orientation Sport
Orientation is a sporting modality in which the objective of the participant is to make a marked route in the plane and on the ground by control points in the shortest possible time.
The race is made from the start to the goal by visiting the control points in the order indicated on the plan, individually and with the compass as the only valid instrument of help.
In the race the qualities of the counselor and his ability to carry them out as widely as possible are tested.
