The nine-kilometer-long journey begins at the old Yecla station and connects both communities at the end in the municipality of Villena. The new section will consist of a first urban part, of about 2.5 kilometers, until crossing the ring road of the town of Yecla.
From this point, the road will run through the southern area of ??the 'La Herrada del Manco' polygon, thus beginning the most naturalized section, of about 6.4 kilometers, in which recovery and conditioning work will be carried out on the platform railway. The refurbishment works in Yecla will include the repair of the road surface and the ditches, the installation of two reception areas and an intermediate rest area, both equipped with benches and tables, the placement of posters and specific signage for greenways and the planting of about 400 trees. These works, which have a budget of almost 300,000 euros, co-financed 80 percent with Feder funds and the remaining 20 percent by the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, will have an execution period, once the contract has been made.

" Cristina Sánchez explained that greenways can become "an optimal instrument for the practice of tourism, in contact with nature and to reinforce rural and inland tourism, boost the low season and contribute to the economic reactivation of these areas, since job creation through safe activity and without overcrowding ". Currently, the Region has a total of four greenways in operation: the Northwest Greenway, the Campo de Cartagena Way, the Mazarrón Greenway and the Almendricos Way, accounting for more than 150 kilometers.
