After the success of her books, No One Said It Was Easy and Whenever It Rained, It Stopped, the Yeclana writer Alicia Rico Forte changes the subject and format through her new illustrated book: The transparency of an instant.
In her previous works, Alicia focused on her experience against cancer; in the first, telling his day to day while he suffered it, and in the second, speaking from the perspective of the passage of time.
However, in his new book he opens up new topics such as the contradictions of love, the phases of life, fear, or the power of diversity.
He does so with the help of his delicate watercolor portraits, which give light and color to his texts.In the words of the writer Marisa López Soria:“This illustrated book is made up of very short stories, imbued with love, tenderness, social conscience, compassion and affliction for the pain of others.
They are accompanied by beautiful watercolors: Beautiful or hurt faces, details, young or old faces that want to add in images what words will make us imagine.Alicia makes us accomplices —in her process of looking at the world, reflecting and creating—, of the echo of her sensitivity, a sensitivity to the surface of the skin that can sometimes be touched, as it takes us into tactile sensations, despite the transparency of the moment, despite the elusiveness that the author sometimes proposes.
"Given the current situation due to COVID-19, Alicia Rico Forte does not yet have a date for a physical presentation, but she is taking advantage of social networks to publicize her new book.
She intends to make online presentations for small groups, as literary gatherings, in which her followers can interact with her and talk about the process of creating her book.
Likewise, Alicia is open to any collaboration.
“We cannot let the pandemic we are experiencing paralyze all our projects,” the author tells us, “culture is very important, but always safely.
We have powerful technologies at our fingertips, let's make use of them, even if we have to use our imagination to do so.
COVID-19 has taken a lot from us, but it can never make us stop dreaming.
