The socialist deputy Virginia Lopo has denounced the disastrous service that the UTE formed by the companies Ambulancias Mar Menor, Ambulancias Do Atl ntico and Ambulancias S nchez (several of them owned by subsidiaries of La Generala) is providing in ambulance transport of patients at the Virgen del Castillo de Yecla regional hospital.
"What is happening with the provision of the health transport service at the Virgen del Castillo de Yecla regional hospital is a shame, which affects people's health, even forgetting to pick up an 87-year-old patient years leaving her more than 4 hours alone waiting for an ambulance, "said Lopo.
The socialist deputy has explained that the winner of the ambulance contract has only 12 drivers to attend the Virgen del Castillo hospital, when there should be 16.
"To this is added the pressure received by the workers so that they do not denounce this situation, those who force them to work more hours than those stipulated and transport more people than those allowed in each vehicle, all under threat of dismissal or non-renewal of the contract.
" "They do not renew the contracts of experienced drivers and ask the Amusal and Claudio Galeno training centers, trainees who have just obtained the qualification of Technician in Health Emergencies, that they have not worked as drivers before of ambulances, to make internship contracts, "he said.
The PSRM, since the award of the contract to La Generala, has denounced the breaches of this company on innumerable occasions.
"This service supposes a cost to the Autonomous Community of 305 million Euros, which is paid with the taxes of all the citizens of the Region, also with the taxes paid by the users of the health of Jumilla and of Yecla ".
Finally, Virginia Lopo, has asked herself "How long will La Generala be allowed in this region to do what it wants to earn more, to the detriment of a public service on which the people's lives? Health competencies belong to the regional government of PP and Cs.
