The Ministry of Education and Culture, through the General Directorate of Cultural Assets, has allocated a grant of 225,000 euros to finance the works to change the roofs of the main nave and side aisles of the chapel of the Virgen de las Angustias, attached to the Church of San Francisco de Yecla, whose City Council will contribute the remaining 25,000 euros to complete the budget and will be in charge of bidding and contracting the works. The conservation intervention, whose execution period will last until the second half of 2022, is necessary as a result of some deterioration detected in the structure, pavements and altarpieces. The Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, and the mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, visited the property this afternoon, classified as BIC, on the occasion of the beginning of the restoration works. In this first phase, the work will be aimed at solving humidity problems in the main and lateral ships, caused by the continuous entry of water.

Once this deterioration is fixed, the repair of the structure will begin, especially in the vault of the main nave, to later conclude with an action on altarpieces, pavements and carpentry that have suffered xylophage damage.
