The Municipal Socialist Group calls for the government team to coordinate with the Ministry of environment from a plague that has already begun to see in areas surrounding the Carche and coming bulldozing thousands of trees by this beetle and aggravated by the stress of the pines to drought and mild winter
The PSOE de Yecla has expressed concern to see that many of the pine forests of the southeastern Spanish are offering a bleak look at the sudden loss of numerous pines caused by the plague borer, a beetle called "Tomicus destruens" that could be compared as "red pine weevil".
The Socialists remember that this insect is native and is necessary in proportion to the continuation of the natural life of forests but that is beginning to jeopardize much of our natural spaces around.
The Socialists have found that this plague progresses uncontrollably drying trees and in recent weeks is progressing affecting more areas every time, being seen in recent days near areas of natural interest to our municipality as the Sierra Carche.
The PSOE point that "soil dryness, stress trees by low rainfall and high temperatures this mild winter are causing the trees are weakened to such an extent that can not produce sap and resin, the main defense against the borers. the tree dries at a faster by hundreds of small cortical holes that produce these beetles, also adding to it the defoliant effect of the major pest processionary who are suffering. "
The Municipal Socialist Group warned in a request to the mayor that this is "an added problem for our municipality is that this insect also affects in some cases dry trees, such as almonds, which are numerous in Yecla".
Therefore, they have raised a number of initiatives to be taken urgently, through technical both environment and agriculture to take stock of the situation of this pest in our municipality and study acting techniques as endoterapia.
And urge the Ministry of Water, agriculture and the environment to inform the actions they are performing and intensify those decisions to the serious loss of trees, plan a coordinated among relevant institutions to address the plague by treating decided by the technical and that both the mountains and municipal spaces are under control.
And finally, inform the public about the situation and possible treatments for owners of private land that have pine to track their trees.
