The regional deputy for the Altiplano and mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, presented on Thursday, March 11 a motion asking the support of the Regional Assembly and the Government of our region, at the request of the Holy Week Yecla to achieve the recognition by the Ministry of Tourism, as a festival of National Tourist Interest.
A motion argued that data as our Easter dates from the seventeenth century, or it constitute 19 brotherhoods that provide more than 3,500 yeclanos brothers who work throughout the year with a clear commitment to our local society.
They are also notable for its unique character, some as singular as the "Farolicos" or the Entombment with the rear edge of the Stabat Mater by the people processions.
And if those are relevant findings, we can not forget the wonder of being able to see on the street that leading exponent of Baroque imagery that is the image of Our Lady of Sorrows, work of master Salzillo and cataloged as BIC, and the peculiarity of having another monument BIC, as is the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, as a starting point and collecting most of these processions
Within this same field, Mark Ortuño defend on Thursday 17 March, within the Regional Assembly, a motion for the defense of our cultural traditions.
Some traditions among which are the Easter processions and we see as being assaulted in different municipalities in the region of Murcia and the rest of Spain by radical political and nighters trying to attack Catholic traditions.
