Culture encouraged to participate this weekend in the parade of floats parties Yecla (12/05/2016)

The Minister of Culture and the regional government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo, mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, and the president of the Federation of Clubs, But Jose Azorin, presented today the main events this weekend will be held from Parties San Isidro, which began last April 30 and conclude on May 21.

This Saturday, May 14th is the big day of the Festival of San Isidro with its traditional parade of floats from 17 hours, which brings together people coming from across the region and other communities.

A total of 60 clubs (55 of them federate), representing more than 3,000 people will participate in the parade of floats, "a celebration that recalls the agricultural tradition of the town you fill a year of joy, color and art the streets of Yecla and where yeclanos again demonstrate their ingenuity and work developed over a year to create the best float in a completely traditional way, "said Arroyo, who encouraged all citizens of the Region "Yecla to visit and enjoy the hospitality of its inhabitants."

To make the floats, members of the clubs employ a craft technique that involves sticking thousands of 'papelicos' manila silk or multiple colors and a size of about seven centimeters.

Crinkle papers, are rolled into cones and stick with glue on the structure of the float.

In addition to paper, the materials used to confeccionarlas are very diverse, ranging from cardboard and cork to wood, foam rubber, plastic and iron.

Some of them come to exceed five meters and a half high, "are true works of art, monuments we have the chance to see Saturday stroll through the streets of Yecla" added the Minister of Culture.

The themes of the floats of the adult category are focused on the field, in the most emblematic of Yecla and the traditions and customs of the municipality.

In the case of child floats, the theme is free and usually related to fantasy or cartoon characters or stories.

The best coaches will be awarded after the parade, giving 19 awards in each category.

For the parade, members of the rocks are dressed in the traditional costume and in the streets wine and food is distributed.

The participants own clubs, groups of friends and neighbors riding their 'chiringuitos' or barracks, giving the opportunity to reach out to taste the typical products of the earth.

Thus, in the yeclanas streets, along the entire route, about 20,000 people are concentrated.

Other activities to be held during these days are the procession and bonfire at the door of the chapel of Santa Barbara de Yecla (Friday from 19:30);

the performance of the Orquesta Mondragón (Friday 23:00), plus tastings, wine tastings and guided tours conclude with tastings of typical sweets.

The festivities conclude on May 21 with the Pilgrimage of San Isidro.

The event also was attended Queens of the holidays, Cristina Carpena and Lucía Muñoz, dressed in traditional costumes and councilors of Culture and Celebration, Jesús Verdú and Tourism, Employment and Training, Inmaculada García .
