This initiative of the Ministry of the Presidency is aimed at increasing the presence of citizens in public life and implement actions on transparency
Yecla City Council has joined the 'Network of municipalities for citizen participation' after signing the cooperation agreement between the Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagán, and the local mayor, Marcos Ortuño.
The Mayor of Yecla, stressed that "with this agreement the City of Yecla confirms our willingness to establish Open Government policies to realize the active participation of citizens in public life".
The Ministry of Presidency promotes this network to strengthen cooperation between regional and local administrations to promote citizen participation in public life and to implement complementary actions on transparency.
Adhering to this network it is formalized through the signing of agreements, which agree to take certain measures and criteria, to help spread the culture of participation and transparency between administrations and the whole society.
In addition, the Community will launch the School of Open Government and a technology platform in order to facilitate citizen participation in the localities that are part of the Regional Network for Citizen Participation, explained the Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagán, after signing the agreement on citizen participation with the mayor of Yecla.
According to this agreement, municipalities undertake to approve a municipal regulation of participation and promote participatory processes for the development of actions affecting neighbors, among other measures.
For its part, the Community provides support and advice for the development of such municipal regulations and for the implementation of the mechanisms requiring the exercise of the right of access to public information contained in the national and regional legislation on transparency.
