Deputy Yolanda Fernández denounced that for a year the Plan is expected and stressed that this is the first natural monument recognized in the Region and one of the most emblematic natural spaces of our Region and the region of the Altiplano
The deputy of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Yolanda Fernández, has presented a motion in the Regional Assembly proposing the elaboration and urgent approval of the Management Plan for the protection of Mount Arabí de Yecla, the first recognized natural monument in the Region.
Fernandez indicated that the Monte Arabí is a large stone structure with a rounded shape, with an altitude of 1,065 meters and an area of approximately 600 hectares.
It also has a high concentration of rock art, one of the reasons why it has great cultural, social and historical relevance.
"It is one of the most emblematic natural spaces of our Region and, above all, the region of the Altiplano," he said.
In March 2016, the Council of Government, given its importance, and in virtue of what was established in Law 4/2007 on Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, recognized it as a natural monument.
The Socialist deputy denounces that one year has elapsed and has not yet been elaborated nor approved the aforementioned Management Plan for its protection, a circumstance that has motivated the complaints of the naturalistic associations, which also assure that the Monte Arabí is currently in a Worrying state of abandonment.
