The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment is putting in place local offices of environmental agents and terrestrial forest brigades to improve the attention to the citizen and offer the body better facilities, according to their needs.
The councilor Adela Martinez-Cachá, who today inaugurated next to the mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, the new local forest office in the municipality, said "the neighbors of Yecla have a new headquarters that brings them the regional administration to carry out Any process related to public forests, use of forest areas or settling of roads, among other formalities ".
In the new facility, whose premises correspond to the City Council, 135,897 euros have been invested, financed with EAFRD funds.
It will have the permanent presence of an environmental agent, and will provide the service with four agents.
In the office will be processed services such as authorizations for the use of fire, cutting and harvesting of forest species and arrangement of roads.
In addition, information is provided on protected natural areas, advice on the fight against forest pests, close proximity to public property or authorizations for public use, among others.
It will also have a forest brigade (BRIFOR) service, made up of eight members, which will rise to nine in high-risk times (June-September).
Six staff will be serviced daily, and reduced to five in low danger season (November-March).
To these specialists of extinction will be added a foreman and a coordinator, reason why there will be up to 10 workers that serve in this new base.
Forest Brigades
The brigades focus daily on silvicultural actions of firefighting in the forest masses of public ownership, and execute works against forest pests, superficial repair of roads and support to preventive devices of firefighting, among other works.
During the high-hazard period, they also carry out training and training for intervention in forest fire emergencies.
The Region of Murcia has 19 terrestrial forest brigades, composed of about 200 personnel.
In this regard, the minister specified that "the objective of the regional government is that each of the 19 brigades has its base and the facilities necessary for the development of its work."
The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment works in the opening of the offices of Alhama de Murcia, Totana and Caravaca de la Cruz.
In addition, it is looking for available space for the facilities of Cartagena, Mazarrón and Jumilla.
In recent months the offices of Ricote and El Sabinar have been set up in Moratalla.
