From the GM of IU-Greens we think that our city council should give a special attention and protection to those children with different capacities and special needs because they are the great forgotten in the public playgrounds.
We believe it is necessary to enable inclusive play spaces, as their parents demand.
Children need spaces where they can share their time, regardless of their abilities and where they learn to live on equality, without differences being an obstacle.
In the same way that the architectural barriers for people with mobility difficulties are eliminated, there must be areas equipped with adapted games and infrastructures so that they can also be used by these children.
Public administrations are obliged to guarantee that children and adolescents with functional diversity enjoy a full life, that allows them to become self-sufficient and facilitate active participation in the community.
If we want an inclusive city, we have to start by forming inclusive children and inclusive girls in and out of school, and this means that they play together.
The spaces we demand should serve to instill values and educate the rest of the children of today.
This way they can accompany them, have fun together and collaborate with them when they need it.
At the same time they will be spearheads to break taboos and stereotypes among the elders, as defended by groups working in the field of functional diversity, since we are all different in one way or another should not fit distinctions nor barriers.
In order to guarantee the right of children to enjoy an accessible environment, we require the municipality of Yecla to propose the design of public spaces and recreational areas in which all children and all girls, regardless of their Age and functional diversity where regular games are integrated with accessible games so that all children can enjoy and have fun together in the same area.
In this sense, the elimination or reduction of architectural barriers to the maximum is fundamental, - a step in the entrance or the sand of the ground are obstacles difficult to overcome, more when it has to have as a principle that in all the activities related to Children with functional diversity should have as their primary consideration the protection of their best interests.
In terms of safety, these spaces should have minimum measures, at least and as an example: that they are sufficiently separated from the road traffic either in a natural or artificial way;
That the surface on which they are going to play this made of soft materials in order to avoid possible injuries to falls;
That gaming devices are designed and produced with materials that can not cause harm to minors;
Or who have up-to-date and visible information to call a nearby medical service if necessary.
