The deputy of the Socialist Parliamentary Group for the Altiplano, Yolanda Fernandez, has requested that the items be increased so that farmers can contract agricultural insurance.
Yolanda Fernández has insisted on the increase of the aid to be able to secure the crops after the hail, that has fallen these days, has affected more than 35 percent of the cultivation in the Altiplano.
Although the worst part has been taken by Jumilla, in the districts of La Alquería and La fuente del pino, hail has affected about 3,000 hectares, hailstones wreaked havoc in the surroundings of Yecla and Jumilla, specifically in the places Del Carche and El Ardal.
The most affected crops were: grape, almond, pear, peach and plum.
"Most of those affected did not have any type of insurance because of the high cost involved, so we have to re-enforce what we have been claiming since the beginning of the legislature, increasing budget lines and subsidies for the purchase of agricultural insurance , Since it is the best way to give security guarantees especially for small and medium farmers. "
The deputy of the socialist party has recalled that this hailstorm has been repeated in the last three years, which has left only damage and no water.
"We want to show our support to all farmers for these losses. We will insist on increasing the amount to make the hiring of agricultural insurance more accessible."
