The National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters of Spain (ANIEME) has presented the report on the results of the foreign trade of the Spanish furniture sector for the period from January to June 2017.
At the national level, the Spanish furniture exports show growth of 4.5%, surpassing the figure of 1,048 million euros.
Particularly noteworthy is the increase in sales of Spanish furniture to markets as diverse as the United Kingdom, the United States, Morocco and Mexico.
Export and import at the national level
(January-June 2017: Spanish furniture exports increased by 4.5%
During the first half of 2017, sales abroad of Spanish furniture surpassed the figure of 1,048 million euros, which is an increase of 4.5% compared to the volume registered in the same period of the previous year.

(January-June 2017: The Spanish import of furniture increases by 1.2%
During the first half of 2017, Spain imported furniture worth 1,509 million euros, an increase of 1.2% over the first six months of 2016. With these data the balance of the national sectoral balance shows a deficit of 461.5 million euros, with the coverage rate standing at 69.4%

It should be noted that, with the exception of Germany, the main destinations of Spanish furniture have increased, some of them with significant double-digit growth.
France, Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom account for 50.1% of the Spanish exportation of furniture, more than half of the total exported, and are at the top of the main destinations of Spanish furniture during the first half of this year.
France maintains its leadership as the first destination of Furniture of Spain, with a percentage over the total of 25.9%.
Especially noteworthy is the growth of the United States (+ 15.7%), which becomes the fifth destination of Spanish furniture worldwide.
Morocco and Mexico are also among the top ten destinations of Spanish furniture with significant increases of 9.3% and 24.1% respectively.
Exports to Russia continue to decline, moving from 17th place in the ranking of destinations, with a decrease of 4.9% in this period.

As can be seen in the table above, Spanish furniture imports increased by 1.2% in the period January-June 2017.
Of note is the resurgence of Spanish imports of furniture from China with an increase of 7%, which means that China continues to be the main supplier of imported furniture in Spain, with a share of 23.8% over the total imported.
Behind China, occupying the following positions in the ranking of suppliers of furniture to Spain, are located different European countries like Portugal, Germany, Italy, Poland and France, which denotes that not all furniture imported in Spain is low-cost .

According to data provided by ESTACOM, in the first half of 2017, Catalonia increased its furniture exports by 13.6%, ranking first in the ranking of exporters of furniture with a share of 27.9% total exported at national level.
The Valencian Community has decreased by 2.3% its sales abroad, occupying the 2nd place with a share of 22.2% over the total exported.
It should be noted that Catalonia and the Valencian Community account for 50.1% of the total national exports of furniture, which means that currently more than half of the Spanish furniture exported has been manufactured in these two Autonomous Communities.
Other Autonomous Communities that have seen their exports grow significantly in this period have been Galicia (+ 29.5%) and Madrid (+ 33.8%), which are ranked 2nd and 3rd in the ranking of CCAA exporters of furniture.

During the first half of 2017, sales of furniture in the Region of Valencia totaled 232,625 thousand euros, down 2.3% from the same period of the previous year .
