The agreement is the result of efforts undertaken by the City Council and the Association of Stewards
The steps taken by the City of Yecla and Stewards Association have now studded with the statement of the festivities as a Cultural Heritage.
This has been agreed this morning by the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia.
These parties, held an organized since the eighteenth century and whose main events take place from 5 to 8 December, have their origin in a historical event occurred in 1642 when yeclana militia, led by Martin Soriano Zaplana, went to Vinaroz (Castellón) to participate in the War of Catalonia and returned months later without regret any casualties.
In appreciation, decided to climb to Santuario del Castillo, where and then venerated the Blessed Virgin, and continued to do so year after year, no date fixed, while fired off their muskets as a sign of joy.
In 1691 he founded the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception in 1711 identified the actual dates for the holidays and in 1786 were passed ordinances regulating them and served to support its development.
In the program of events includes unique celebrations such as the approval (December 5), the Paseo, the Mass of Pages and I kiss the flag (6 December), the Alborada, La Bajada and wreath (7 December), the solemn function, the Investiture of the ordeal and the Procession (December 8) and, finally, the Minerva and the Rise (Sunday following the conclusion of the ninth).
