The Autonomous Community promotes the recovery of the old town of Yecla around the hill of Santa Barbara and the Castle of the town.
This project, promoted and managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, has a regional financing of about one million euros.
This is an Area Comprehensive Rehabilitation (ARI), allowing the rehabilitation of 150 houses in an area covering 47 blocks.
In these homes will be out a structural packaging and sealing, and improved accessibility, livability and energy efficiency.
The area under performance is bounded to the west through the streets Antonio Ortega, Juan XXIII and Historian Jiménez Rubio, southward through the streets Algeciras, Tetouan and the edge of Castle Hill to the east of Jumilla Street and north on Lepanto street.
Also be restored public spaces around the edge of the Castle and improve accessibility to the elimination of architectural barriers.
The Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, said that the works "will not only enable improved quality of life for residents but also serve to restore a traditional space of the town, characterized by its streets with steps in around a natural area as the hill of Santa Barbara. "
In late April, Navarro, with the mayor of the municipality, John Benedito, held a briefing with the neighbors to let them know the details of the management carried out by both administrations in order to boost performance .
The responsible regional stressed that "it is of essential importance of collaboration between administrations for the projects go forward as a priority" and called such works as "invigorating" to the municipality involved.
