Ortuño Marcos Soto, Yecla Acting Mayor, attended today at 12.30 am in the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia, the signing of the Covenant of Mayors for Local Sustainable Energy, which the City Council agreed to adhere Yecla by resolution adopted by the Local Government Board on March 8, 2011.

The meeting will be chaired by the Minister for Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, accompanied by the representative of the Directorate General for Energy European Commission, Roman Doubrava and Vice President of the European Parliament and member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, Alejo Vidal-Quadras.

Local accession to the Covenant of Mayors for Local Sustainable Energy, is the commitment of local governments to reduce CO2 emissions in their respective territories for the year 2020 by at least 20% by establishing an Action Plan Sustainable Energy.
