About 20% of all the grapes of the Denomination of Origin Yecla and is ecological, as explained by the chairman of the board regulator, Pascual Molina, during the presentation this morning in the IV Contest Murcia Denomination of Origin selection of San Isidro Yecla to be held on 13 May.
In this case, the mayor of Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito, pointed in the same presentation, which has also testified before the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Cerdá, which, in fact, that of Yecla "and is the appellation of origin more committed to the organic grapes in Spain, since it is the only one used in all crops pheromones natural pest control to replace chemical pesticides.
A vineyard need several years of natural treatments, without pesticides, so that the grapes could show officially organic seal, so it will be in the next campaign when the use of these pheromones permitted to raise the percentage of vines classified as organic.
Molina explained that soon will reach 30% and that "almost without intending it" could reach 100%.
