The full City Council held this evening Yecla has elected new Mayor of Yecla Ortuño Marcos Soto, with the support of the Municipal People's Party and the non-socialist groups and IU + Greens have decided not to nominate candidates.
The plenary was chaired initially by José Antonio Hernández Muñoz (Second Deputy Mayor).
First, we proceeded to vote for candidates for mayor by the council roll-call vote and by secret ballot.
At the end it came to counting and chairman of the board announced the proclamation of Marcos Ortuño as Mayor, who then swore the charge and received the medal and the staff of City Hall, between the applause of the audience that packed the plenary hall.
The new mayor took his seat in the presidency and gave way to a speaking time of the spokespersons from each local group, who had words of remembrance and affection for the former Mayor, Juan Miguel Blessed, who died on 6 September.

He had words of remembrance and affection for Juan Miguel Benedito, which I rate as one of his political mentors and thanked the many condolences received after his death.
He also thanked the support of his family and had an emotional remembrance for the figure of his father, who died last August that qualify as "the most important person in my life."
He acknowledged that "being mayor of the city you were born, is the largest political aspiration that can be" but that his greatest dream "was fulfilled in the worst way possible."
Finally, he announced his intention to carry out a continuing work of the project led by Juan Miguel Benedito and requested the support of all to work for Yecla.
In the plenary had the presence of the Director of the Presidency, Manuel Campos and the mayors of Jumilla, Enrique Jimenez and Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

Also attending were all ex - Yecla mayors since the restoration of democracy, ex - council members and a broad representation of citizens' associations.
The new Mayor
Ortuño Marcos Soto was born in Yecla on January 26, 1973.
Law degree from the University of Valencia (1995), specializing in private law.
Practiced law since 1996
Joins the Popular Party in 1990.
Member of the Board of the party since 2000
Elected alderman in 1999, was Deputy Mayor in office from 1999 to 2003, playing the delegations of Ecology, Environment, Trade and Industry.
From 2003 to 2007 he was Director General of Transport and Ports, the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation of the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
After the municipal elections of 2007 he was elected Deputy Mayor, Councillor of Works and Urban Development and People's spokesperson, responsibilities continued to maintain after the last elections to the present.
