The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, delivered last night along with the mayor of Yecla, Mark Ortuño, VI awards Yecla Wine Competition 2013 San Isidro.
A total of 19 wines, of the 50 that were presented, were awarded after being assessed throughout the day yesterday by a jury composed of ten winemakers tasting.
The Minister said that "Yecla wines are still very rewarded and recognized by prestigious winemakers" and highlighted the momentum of the DO Yecla to organic production of wine from this area, which reaches 2,000 hectares, "which contributes to the diversification of its bid to reach all markets and to respond to new demands, "he said.
The Denomination of Origin Yecla covers an area of ​​5,954 hectares of vineyards, situated within the limits of this municipality and eight wineries attached to the Control Board and 500 growers.
The commercialization of last season 2011-2012 was seven million liters of bottled wine, with 92 percent of sales to the foreign market.
Cerda said the Yecla Wine adaptation to changing market demands and stressed that "precisely the features of this Appellation of Origin are completely identified with consumer tastes."
The regional head of Agriculture and Water III previously attended flufffy Nomination Gala 2013 held at the Teatro Segura de la Concha resort, organized by the City, the Council of the Designation of Origin and Wine Route Association.
