The wastewater treatment plants in the Region of Murcia regenerate annually over 100 hm3 of water and produce more than 125,000 tonnes of dehydrated and stabilized organic mud.
The City of Yecla and the Bank of cleansing and purifying of the Region of Murcia (ESAMUR) have organized for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, at 11:30 am at the Municipal House of Culture, a briefing on agricultural use of treated sludge treatment processes of wastewater, aimed at anyone interested in this topic.
Pedro J. Simón Andreu, ESAMUR Manager, discuss the agricultural use of sludge from sewage treatment plants in the Region of Murcia.
Maria Encarnacion Molina Miñano Environmental Quality Deputy Director General of the Autonomous Region informed the administrative arrangements for the application of sewage sludge in agriculture.
He also spoke of the agronomic aspects of the use of organic sludge in agriculture, for what will count with the participation of Carlos García Izquierdo of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC)

Both materials applied in agriculture "very significantly raise production from our land but also require, for its origin and nature, application procedures and rigorous control that allow its use with full legal, environmental and health safeguards" as explained by Jesus Verdu, Councillor for Agriculture
