The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Directorate General of Irrigation and Rural Development has allocated a total of 23,414 euros from the Community Initiatives Leader for Rehabilitation of High House Yecla and conditioning as rural housing, as well as building a tasting room and a meeting center for the promotion of oenological activities.
The new rural housing, built on an old farmhouse, is located in the hamlet 'The Cabezuelas'.
It has 160 square meters of living space, divided into three rooms, kitchen, lounge and shower room, plus a spacious dining room also qualified as a tasting room and meeting center.
It also has a courtyard 70 sqm and terrace with barbecue.
It sleeps six people and pet friendly.
Rehabilitation works have included the reunification of the two living areas downstairs traditionally separate, the consolidation of load-bearing walls, pavement placement and adaptation of the kitchen and toilet.
The project also included the installation of solar panels for domestic hot water, a biomass boiler and a system of ecological waste water treatment for use of these in the garden watering.
High House also has its own wine cellar, in ecological quality wines are produced.
The accommodation offers related to wine route, tasting and selling their products activities.
It is a privileged environment for the practice of outdoor sports and tourist activities, such as the route of the castles or visiting neighboring cities and natural areas, as Yecla, Villena, Jumilla and Almansa, cities for its parties, their town centers and major cultural attractions, plus the ability to appreciate the paintings found on the slopes of Monte Arabi.
Diversify the economy
The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, said that this project is an example of the Leader approach, driven by his department, "aimed at diversifying the economy, to create jobs, and improve the quality of life in rural areas ".
This project is included in the line of support for the promotion of tourism has been managed by the Local Action Group for Regional Development Association of the Northwest Region of Murcia, which includes the municipalities of Abanilla, Fortuna, Jumilla and Yecla .
The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) provides 75 percent of the aid.
The rest is provided, in equal measure, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
