The consortium meeting was held in the University of Life Sciences SGGW, Warsaw (Poland) for 22 and 23 May 2014, and visited participants from 6 different countries.
FURNISHED, Innovative Business Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Allied Murcia active in the ECO4VET (Improvement of Vocational Education and Training related to EcoDesign and Sustainable Production in the Furniture Sector) project, funded by the European Commission within the program Leonardo da Vinci.
The project aims to improve the competitiveness of European workers in the furniture industry, by acquiring new knowledge and skills in eco-design and sustainable production.
Ecodesign is to take into account the environmental impact of the product will have throughout their life cycle, considering aspects such as raw materials used, manufacturing processes and transport, use and recyclability at the end of the service life, so that it can minimize the impact at the time of product design.
To enhance training in this methodology, ECO4VET develop new tools and training materials, and pilot courses will be held in eco-design and sustainable production.
The project is to analyze the training needs of the sector, define the training schedule and course content, develop and adapt an e-learning platform and make several pilot courses in different countries.
The first phase of the project, which was carried out during the first 6 months of it, is nearly complete and has been the analysis of the training offered in eco-design issues currently existing in the different countries involved in the project.
Coinciding with the completion of this phase, there has been the second meeting of the project partners, which have looked at the work done so far, and they should do next, which emphasizes the design of the routes training based on the profile of the student, the course content ecodesign and sustainable production and e-learning platform.
Additionally, we have carried out a broadcast event in which, besides the 9 partners attendees participated companies, business associations and specific trade press wood and furniture in Poland.
The project is led by the Technology Centre of the whip i Moble de Catalunya (CENFIM) and is also involved other Spanish entity, the servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya (SOC).
